Laura Meehan, MM, MT-BC, is our therapist that serves the Orlando, FL area. Laura is originally from Dallas, Texas and although she is a Texas girl at heart, she loves the Florida sunshine! Laura has her bachelor’s degree in music education from Texas Tech University and her master’s degree in music therapy from Florida State University. Her music therapy internship was completed in Fort Lauderdale, FL at Chris Evert Children’s Hospital where she worked with children of all ages diagnosed with various illnesses. Laura also has experience working with children and adults with disabilities in individual and group settings both as a music therapist and as an educator.
Laura holds the Music Therapist Board Certified (MT-BC), the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Music Therapist (NICU MT) designations, and is also certified to teach music and special education. She is a member of the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA), National Association for Music Education (NAfME), Florida Music Educators Association (FMEA), Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA), and International Society for Music Education (ISME).
While continuing her education, Laura found a love for research, particularly In the field of children with disabilities and music. She has presented at the state, national, and international levels and hopes to continue educating others on the benefits of music.
